My fight started on March 31st, 2022 with a visit to my family doctor.  I thought it was going to be something simple like maybe an infection in my armpit, man was I wrong.  I am thankful for my family doctor as she never leaves anything to chance and sent me for a Mammogram and Ultra-sound, which quickly turned into 2 biopsies, and then the dreaded word "MALIGNANT".  From here is was the first scary appointment with the oncologist on May 4th and a diagnosis of Stage 3 Inflammatory Breast Cancer.  What followed was 16 rounds of Chemotherapy starting on May 11th, 2022, a Full Single Mastectomy with Axilla Dissection on October 25th, 2022, and 16 rounds of Radiation starting on January 11th, 2023.  Now it is Hormone Therapy and praying for the all clear, and that is never comes back.  

I fought and I fought as hard as I could, as the idea of leaving my daughter, Husband and rest of my family and friends just was not an option and I will continue to fight for myself, and for anyone else that gets the dreaded word "CANCER" and I pray one day that no one ever has to hear that word again.

An estimated 27,700 women and 260 men are diagnosed with breast cancer every year in Canada.
