My family has been personally affected by breast cancer, just like the families of many Canadians. My mother and both my grandmothers were diagnosed and fortunately, all three of them survived. We were lucky. There are so many others out there who have lost their lives to this terrible disease. 

Both my sister and I are on the high-risk screening program for breast cancer as a result of our genetics, and in speaking with care teams, genetic counsellors, doctors and other health care providers involved in this work, I can confirm that the dollars raised through this initiative have been directly advancing the knowledge surrounding the disease and the quality of care that's provided to patients.
