Pink Hijabs
Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Allah did not send down any disease but that He also sent its cure".
After 14 years, we have come back together again as "Pink Hijabs & Friends" to support the estimated 27,700 women and 260 men diagnosed with breast cancer every year in Canada. We are also coming together to raise awareness about this alarmingly common disease that very closely impacts our own community, and to encourage our sisters to seek preventative measures against breast cancer. According to statistics, "Muslim women are frequently diagnosed with breast cancer in later stages and have a higher mortality rate than their non-Muslim counterparts" (Gyedu, A. et al., 2017).
We are participating and fundraising for this year's Canadian Cancer Society CIBC Run for the Cure on Sunday, October 2, 2022, because we believe better treatment options and survival outcomes are possible. We want to support all Canadians impacted by breast cancer, including our family and friends, sisters and brothers, and spread awareness about the disease as well as prevention techniques.
With your help, we can raise money to help fund groundbreaking breast cancer research and support programs and services for those impacted by this disease. Together, we can create a future without breast cancer.
