Touched by Cancer

My grandfather died from prostate cancer when I was 5 years old. My grandmother had breast cancer shortly after I was born and survived. My cousin just turned 15 and has brain cancer.

I don't remember when my grandma had breast cancer as I was so little, but she had surgery at the time and is fully recovered. I'm so glad as she plays games with me and bought me a horse and many, many presents.

My grandpa was so important to me and I will never forget him. I was his only grandson and he loved me more than anything. He spent hours with me in his wood working shop, took me on holidays to Hawaii, Niagara Falls and camping. He also took me fishing and phoned me to watch snake shows. We loved the same thing, same foods and we loved each other. I miss him, but was so lucky that he was my grandpa for five years.

My cousin, Josh is one of my best friends. We have spent lots of fishing vacations and Christmas holidays together. He just turned 15 and has brain cancer for over one year now. He has had about six brain surgeries in that year. The picture is in 2007 and is the last time that Josh was at my home even though he lives one hour away. I just want him to be better, to be able to visit me again and to be able to do everything that I can.

My cousin Terrance died from brain cancer last year. He was so nice to me when we saw each other at family reunions. He would spend time playing with his son Nolan and me. My great uncle Henry died from prostate cancer two years ago. That made my mom and grandma very sad. He was very nice to me.

I'm old enough to help raise money to stop cancer. I am doing it because it has touched my life because of my family above and it has touched my friends and their families.
