If Canadians adopt a healthier lifestyle and are exposed to less air pollution, nearly 4 in 10 cancer cases can be prevented by 2042 (Compare, 2019).

Active transportation, like walking or cycling, is a free and accessible way to increase your physical activity. There are also many health benefits. Active transportation improves your physical health, mental health and cognitive performance. It also decreases the number of motorized vehicles, reducing air pollution and congestion.

Trottibus and the On Your Feet Challenge raise awareness about the importance of active transportation. Trottibus is an easy way for children to increase their physical activity because it allows them to walk every day. And the On Your Feet Challenge is the perfect opportunity for young people to try out different means of active transportation in their daily lives. Projects like these from the Canadian Cancer Society would not be possible without the support of our donors.
