Your Impact

Thanks

Each of us has a role to play when it comes to taking on cancer. You have the power to influence the lives of those around you — the lives of people living with cancer. You can help fund Canada’s most promising cancer research and a support system that makes a real difference for people affected by cancer. Here are some of the ways you’ll be making an impact.

44.7M$ invested in cancer research and innovation programs across cancer types and across the cancer continuum.

3000 people received access to clinical trials that are testing potentially life-saving interventions.

81 000 persons discovered local cancer-related services.

18.4 millions visitors informed on cancer.ca.

Over 4 000 wigs and breast accessories distributed.

Over 600 camp participants at Camp Goodtimes program.

69 800 night stays at CSS lodges.

206 000 assisted via Smoker’s helpline and Talk Tobacco.

Over $4.3M

In 2024, over 6 300 persons from over 25 communities across Canada participated in Relay For Life events. Together, they raised over $4.3 million to support those affected by cancer in our communities nationwide.

With our youth events, Relay For Life have raised over 12.3M$.

Why we relay

Each dollar raised will help us transform the future of cancer.

To fund the brightest minds in cancer research and save more lives.

More people are surviving cancer than ever before. Today, around 64% of Canadians diagnosed with cancer will survive at least 5 years after their diagnosis compared to 55% in the early 1990s.

Make healthy living easier.

Our researchers are working to prevent cancer while we promote healthy lifestyles. We shape healthy public policies that protect our health and support people who have cancer, as well as their caregivers.

Support Canadians living with cancer.

We offer a support system for people with cancer and their family, friends and caregivers. Our programs and services help answer your questions about cancer, manage life with cancer, find community and connection, and build wellness and resilience.

Where the money goes

Your support of the Canadian Cancer Society is vital in helping people affected by cancer. Below are just a few examples of how your donations and fundraising supports our work and fuels change:

$25

Helps ensure that support is just a phone call away with a caring information specialist for anyone with questions about cancer.

$50

Provides a day’s worth of meals for someone staying at one of our lodges during treatment.

$100

Helps fund the most promising research to reduce cancer risk, improve detection and treatment and save lives.

$700

Sends one child with cancer to a safe, medically supervised camp and give them the summer of a lifetime!

$1500

Helps someone get to their life-saving cancer treatment for three weeks, or fifteen round trips!

$6000

Allows one cancer patient to participate in a clinical trial to test potentially life-saving new treatments.

“I’ve experienced the impact donations to the Canadian Cancer Society have first-hand. From staying at the lodge, to getting a wig when I lost my hair and consulting the website for information to help me understand my diagnosis and treatment options. Donations make a difference in people’s lives, including my own.”
