Harness the Hope was founded by the Dustin Family in 2005, after the first (of three) cancer diagnoses in their family. With a shared love of harness racing and helping others affected by cancer, Samantha Gallant and Kristy Dustin connected across provinces, bringing Harness the Hope to the hearts of Islanders.
Entirely volunteer driven with dedicated committees and volunteers, it’s hard to believe that cancer can be seen as a gift to anyone. In many ways, it has shown where the courage lies in all of us, as individuals, as families, and as communities, when we all come together for one another.
Harness the Hope PEI 2021 will open Governor’s Plate week on Sunday afternoon, July 4, at Red Shores Summerside and then continue Saturday evening, July 24, at Red Shores Charlottetown. Join us on the event days by joining the live broadcast below.
Proceeds from this third annual fundraiser will directly assist Islanders by contributing to the local support programs and services of the Canadian Cancer Society and the oncology departments of the Prince County and Queen Elizabeth hospitals.
Funds critical programming such as Cancer Information Services, Wigs, Head Wraps and Prosthetics.
Funds families to attend Camp Goodtimes for children living with cancer
Funds Support persons/caregivers to stay at the “Lodge that Gives” in Halifax
Funds travel for cancer treatments for Island residents
