An estimated 27,700 women and 260 men are diagnosed with breast cancer every year in Canada.  

To show my support for all Canadians impacted by breast cancer, I am participating and fundraising for this year’s Canadian Cancer Society CIBC Run for the Cure on Sunday, October 6, 2024.  

Our Jordana Buchan’s Count Me(ts) IN team raises funds that are directly allocated for Stage 4 BREAST CANCER research.  Stage 4 Metastatic Breast Cancer is very underfunded which makes it difficult to for Stage 4 patients to have access to treatments and programs.  Stage 4 is the only Breast Cancer that is fetal.  STAGE 4 NEEDS MORE!

October aka PINK MONTH, is a big month for important fundraising for Breast Cancer awareness, research, programming, resources etc.   From my perspective over the years there has been massive Breast Cancer AWARENESS campaigns, we are all AWARE of Breast Cancer now, and successful early detection protocols are in place and building all the time.  Being part of the breast cancer community through local support groups and the meaningful relationships that i have built as a result of my life being touched with the reality of breast cancer has been a true gift on my life’s journey.  Early detection and early-stage breast cancer protocols saved my life and for that I'm very grateful.  That being said, my continued involvement with this community comes with the sad reality and awareness that we are losing women and men at an alarming rate from Stage 4 Breast Cancer. 

For October 2024, I challenge you to have a look at all of the marketing that is done for BC Awareness and I think you may agree that Stage 4 needs more!!! Please encourage those around you to question what their donated funds are being used for specifically, when campaigns say “donated to breast cancer awareness, ask where specifically, what cause are they supporting? .  All of the donations to the Breast Cancer cause are very important and necessary and I believe it’s important that the hard-earned money you are contributing aligns with your personal intention.  

Please donate today. I believe better treatment options and survival outcomes are possible. Together, we can give Canadians impacted by breast cancer a reason to have hope. And we can help change the future for all.
