This year I am again running as part of the team, Jordana Buchan's COUNT ME(ts) IN - a group of people living with Stage 4 Metastatic Breast Cander (MBC), and their families and friends in the Regina area.  This team has come together  to raise awareness of MBC and to raise funds to support MBC research.  The funds raised by this team will be directed to the Canadian Cancer Society's Metastatic Futuers Fund.  In 2018, CCS directed $3.8 million (or 33%) of its total breast cancer research investment towards research focused on metastatic breast cancer.  

When I received my diagnosis December 2018, I was introduced to a FB support group.  The ladies in this group surrounded me with their wisdom, their support, their caring.  Many of these women were living with Stage 4 Metastatic Breast Cancer (MBC).  They are/were living on borrowed time.  Convential treatment options had failed them.  They relied on clinic trials of new treatment options to prolong their life with their families, their friends.  In spite of this, they continue to provide tremendous support to all those newly diagnosed - whatever the stage/severity. 

One of the ladies that came along side me was Jordana Buchan.  She was diagnosed at Stage 4 in 2012.  She became a huge support and advocate for the MBC community and was one of a group to start this team with the goal of raising money specifically targeted towards MBC research.  She passed away July 12th,  2021.  To honour her, I took on the role of Team Captain of this team to keep this fundraising going.  I can't think of a better way to thank Jordana, and all those living with MBC who continue to rally around the Breast Cancer community than to generate as much money as I can to go towards MBC treatment research.
