Welcome to our Dragon Boat Family!

Join us at the Canadian Cancer Society September Dragon Boat Challenge as we raise critical funds to assist Manitobans in their fight against ALL cancers. The festival takes place on September 8th & 9th, 2017 at the Manitoba Canoe & Kayak Club on 80 Churchill Dr. in Winnipeg. Friday racing starts at 6:00 PM, so you don't have to take time off work. For Banjo Bowl fans, Saturday ends at 3:00 PM. We promise you fun and safe paddling and a family friendly event.

The single most effective way that each of us can fight back against cancer is to raise money for research, prevention initiatives, and community-based programs and services that support cancer patients and their families. What better way to celebrate a great summer than by getting together with family and friends, celebrating the great country and raising money to fight cancer - the leading cause of death in Manitoba.

Online Registration is under way! With our quick and easy registration process, you can sign your team up for the festival and have your fundraising page set up and ready to go! Please note, that to register your team online, a credit card is required. Team Requirements

  • Maximum of Fifteen (15) Crew Members on Team Roster
  • Maximum of 10 paddlers in boat, plus a drummer
  • Minimum of 8 paddlers in boat, plus a drummer
  • 1 Steersperson (we will provide one for you free of charge, if needed)
  • 1 Team Captain should be selected
  • 1 Team Fundraising Coordinator (suggested)
  • Mixed Divisions Must have a minimum of 4 males and 4 females
  • Minimum age of requirement is 14 years of age (written consent and waiver must be signed by parent or legal guardian)

Team Registration Fee (by July 15th)- $400
(It is hoped that teams would raise a minimum fundraising of $1,500, or $150/paddler for the fight against cancer in Manitoba)

Team Registration for “Additional Team” If you have registered a team already, but still have paddlers that want to participate, register an “additional team” for $200. Note, a different Team Captain is required.
(It is hoped that teams will raise a minimum of $1,000, or $150/paddler to support the fight against cancer)

REGISTRATION FEE INCLUDES:

Dragon Boat Use

  • Equipped with a Dragon Head (for race heats only)
  • Drum/Drumstick (not used during practices)
  • Paddles and Personal Floatation Devices (PFDs) Provided

Practice Sessions

  • Take place at the MB Canoe & Kayak Centre, evenings in August
  • 2 Practices with an experienced coach
  • Rules and Regulations of Festival
  • Information and support for fundraising

Festival (Friday & Saturday, Sept.8th & 9th (Friday is 6:00 – 9:00 PM, Saturday is 9:00 – 3:00 PM))

  • Festival held at 80 Churchill Dr.
  • Safety boats and personnel
  • Awards for Top Fundraising Teams and Individuals
  • Prizes awarded to division winners based on timed results
  • Rules of racing administered by trained race officials

Waiver Forms

Available online, on this site! A link will be sent to the Team Captain to be shared with all paddlers, once the Team is registered.

Refund Policy

  • No Refunds if the festival is cancelled due to weather condition.
  • Cancellation will be determined by the festival committee
